The following JLTA camps are being offered within our district for 2009:

Please note that each boy is required to supply a medical form their local outpost or use the optional medical form posted below. See below for additional information.

Discovery Training Camp

Discovery Training Camp (DTC) - CAMP COMPLETED
Location: Church Ministerio Belen, 3141 Peck Road, El Monte, CA 91731
Date: February 20-21, 2009 / Cost: $50 (add $5 after February 6)

Camp Description: DTC is a 2 day camp (1 half day, 1 full day). One of the goals of this camp is to train and prepare Royal Ranger young men for leadership roles in the local outposts. DR Commanders may attend and remain at the camp, but must pay for registration fee and bring their own bedding.. Meals will be included for boys and commanders. (Note: this camp will take place in a church so outdoor camping will not be a part of the training this year)

Spiritual Theme: DTC is not to simply teach patrol skills, but to help each young man grow in his relationship with Christ. DTC will have a central spiritual theme of "Attributes of God"

Training Sessions include: patrol positions, flag & song making, uniforms, patrol staff meetings, model outpost meeting, advancement trail, punctuality, marching, friendship, God has a plan for you, goal setting, ect.

Camp Check-in: 5:00pm (Friday) / Camp Dismissal: 4:00pm (Saturday)***

***Parents and commanders are encouraged to attend the graduation ceremony on Saturday beginning at approximately 3:30pm. (DR group commanders may remain at the camp, but must first contact the district office for additional information)

Junior Training Camp

Junior Training Camp (JTC) - CAMP COMPLETED
Location: Camp Verdugo Oaks, Castaic, CA
Date: April 8-11, 2009 / Cost: $90 (add $10 after March 10)

Camp Description: JTC is a 4 day camp (1 half day, 2 full days, 1 half day). One of the goals of this camp is to train and prepare Royal Ranger young men for leadership roles in the local outposts.

Spiritual Theme: JTC is not to simply teach patrol skills, but to help each young man grow in his relationship with Christ. JTC will have a central spiritual theme of "Faithfulness to God"

Training Sessions include: event planning, flag & song making, manners, time management, projecting a professional image, goal setting, witnessing, team building, ect.
Merit Focus: Compass, Lashing, Nature Study, Fire Craft, Rope Craft, Tool Craft

Camp Check-in: 10am (Wednesday) / Camp Dismissal: 11am (Saturday)**

Advanced Junior Training Camp
